On 19 September at 6pm the choir of St John’s will be presenting excerpts from “The Armed Man” by Karl Jenkins. The music is based on a traditional mass and the theme is anti-war, so it is being sung in commemoration of the end of World War II. It was originally written during the conflict in Kosovo, but is equally relevant in our world today. The music will be interspersed by readings and poems relating to this subject, including some of the writings of those involved in war. It will be a moving experience and we ask you to take time out to join us and reflect on “man’s inhumanity to man”.
