On 10 August we held a very special communion service which included the baptism of 6 year old William Ball, who is the grandson of Christina Ball – a longtime member of St John’s. William had asked to be baptised, which was a great joy to all, and was well supported by his family and friends. The service was conducted by Revd Keith Bretel, one of our former Chaplains who still attends the church and helps out when and where needed – at present during an interregnum as we look for a new Chaplain. Grateful thanks to him. It was a happy service, including two of William’s favourite hymns: I the Lord of Sea and Sky, and Be still for the presence of the Lord.
